Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe Announces Appointment of Engineer Matthias Chakanyuka as Chief Executive Officer
The Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (BAZ) wishes to announce the appointment of Engineer Matthias Chakanyuka as the substantive Chief Executive Officer of the Authority, with effect from 1 July 2026. The appointment was approved by His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, and communicated through the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Service.
Engineer Chakanyuka joined BAZ in 2004 as an Engineer and has served the Authority with distinction in several leadership positions, including Technical Manager, Director of Technical Services and Acting Chief Executive Officer.
A career broadcast engineer, Engineer Chakanyuka brings extensive experience and expertise in broadcasting engineering, regulation and infrastructure development. He has played a key role in advancing Zimbabwe's broadcasting sector and is widely respected for his technical knowledge, strategic leadership and commitment to the growth of the industry, both locally and internationally.
Management and Staff of the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe congratulate Engineer Chakanyuka on his appointment and express confidence in his leadership as the Authority continues to advance a vibrant, diverse and technologically driven broadcasting sector.
